The two feature matches of the day ( July 22, 2008) really lived up to their billing as both Andy Roddick and Novak Djokovic provided the crowds with great quality tennis and ultimately defeated their opponents and moved on to the third round.

Roddick’s match against Nicolas Mahut started off looking like it was going to be over in the blink of an eye after the American took the first set 6-1. However, Mahut fought back in the second to push it to a tiebreak which he won in a very close fashion. Roddick then returned to his dominant form and closed out the third set quickly.

The evening session was played in front of a packed house, many of whom were unsure who they were rooting for. On one hand they had the defending champion in Novak Djokovic and on the other they had hometown boy Frank Dancevic. Ultimately, with a little personality and a lot of flair Dancevic won the crowd over but unfortunately could not pull off the upset against the powerful Serb. Djokovic won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
