poster_tsongaSeven players will fight for two remaining places to the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals this week at the BNP Paribas Masters, the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Paris (Bercy) that marks the end of the regular season.

No. 7 Nikolay Davydenko and No. 8 Fernando Verdasco, semi-finalist last week in Valencia, are the clear frontrunners for the final spots in the elite eight-man singles field.

The five other contenders won’t find it easy to steal a berth away from Davydenko and Verdasco.

No. 9 Robin Soderling, No. 10 Fernando Gonzalez and No. 11 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga all must at least reach the final to have a chance to qualify for the Finals. Meanwhile, No. 12 Radek Stepanek and No. 13 Marin Cilic need to win the title just to have a chance and will be eliminated should Verdasco wins his opening match in Paris.
